Arigato!
I had the most awesome Samurai dream last night! Probably because I watched the movie ‘The Last Samurai’ last night. It was sad but crammed full of nobility like all samurai movies should be. I couldn’t help but feel, however, that Tom Cruz was a little misplaced…He’s so famous it was a little weird to see him there.
But that’s beside the point.
Normally when I have dreams like this, they are full of ninjas. But no, I was most assuredly a samurai in this. I could tell because my clothes felt heavy and bulky on my shoulders. I also wore heavy green pant-type things. But it did keep me warm. Which was good because I was running through the marches of edo-japan. The ground was mushy and gray but my feet were so light that I seemed to glide on top of it and my socks were kept very clean. The fog was low and heavy. The only things I could see around me between tall blades of grass were my comrades (one of whom was Aino who had long dark red hair flowing out of the back of her helmet) and the enemies we approached. The fog was so dense they didn’t see us coming and we didn’t need to slow our amazing pace at all as we zoomed between the enemy and killed them with single strong sweeps of our thick swords.
We had been running and killing for so long it almost hurt to stop- but we did so we could tighten our masks as we got closer to the castle in front of us. (Yes, like a big mid-evil castle with a drawbridge.) It had huge Zen-like rocks surrounding it (with no real pattern because of the forced ‘Zen’). I pushed my back against one of them.
I had to wait for some big moment to push forward. Aino was to my left atop a big rock crouched like a tiger so she could see more than me, but I was the one who was going to give the signal when we were to attack.
I really can’t explain what went through my head, but I do know it was a long series of complicated math and reasoning questions. But once I was done, I knew it was time to attack. It took a few seconds but I could feel my breath hot and moist under the mask and my fingers tighten over the rubbery bands of the sword. If I held on any tighter I’m sure I would have started to bleed. Aino (and the other three samurai you guys don’t know) were so in tune with my body that the moment I moved, so did they, with lightning speed we rush forward screaming!
And then I woke up to NPR.
Sigh!
I know it’s hard but sometimes I miss school! I liked talking with peers about subjects that interested me- they helped me to improve myself and get to know interesting people. I think I need to join some more clubs. When I moved to L.A. (about two years ago) I joined a ballroom class for fun. I help teach the beginning class every once in a while when I can be there and I’m not stuck at work. It keeps me active and gives me something to look forward to.
But then I thought, the AniMaid Café gives me a chance to feel fulfilled too! I love all the new dances, practicing songs while I’m alone at work, and watching more and more anime just to be ready when my dear Goshujin-samas and ojou-samas call on me! V has gotta be knowledgeable! It’s really a collegial atmosphere now that I think of it!
Thank goodness for AniMaid Cafe! .< )
